It was a day like all others with the events similar to so many that had come before that one or so I thought. DO you know how sometimes the same things arouse rather strange reactions and interpretations from your intended audience and leave you dumbfounded unsure of what went wrong?
I have had my share of such experiences in life; one of which is the subject of a book I am currently writing (watch out for it!) and through it all not only have I learnt that misunderstandings are a constant part of life, but I have also learnt that in order to be happier and live a more fulfilled life, I need to seek to understand and not necessarily to be understood.
Sound like hard work right? Well it does not only sound like it; it is hard work but not impossible work. If others have done it, then you too can and I strive to do so everyday of my life. The more I seek to understand others, the more I am understood. Ironic huh?
If it is true that people hear things and see the world not as it is but as they are then we can be sure that everyday and every time we seek to reach out in any way, people will interpret us based on the reality that they are dealing with at the time. So you see, seek to understand the reality and in so doing you breakdown its wall thereby making your ‘point’ or perspective more accessible to them.
Hard? Yeah!
Arrrggghhh!!!
