Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
It we endure, we will also reign with Him.
If we disown Him, he will also disown us;
If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.
For if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him;
If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself.
If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He will also deny us;
If we are faithless, He remains faithful – for He cannot deny Himself.
If we die with him, we’ll live with him;
If we stick it out with him, we’ll rule with him;
If we turn our backs on him, he’ll turn his back on us;
If we give up on him, he does not give up—
for there’s no way he can be false to himself.
When we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with Him in heaven.
And if we think that our present service for Him is hard, just remember that someday we are going to sit with Him and rule with Him.
But if we give up when we suffer, and turn against Christ, then He must turn against us.
Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, He remains faithful to us and will help us, for He cannot disown us who are part of Himself, and He will always carry out His promises to us.
If you do not know for sure then I am sure you have guessed by now. Yes! that comes from the Bible, 2 Timothy 2:11-13 according to the New International Version, King James Version, New Revised Standard Version, The Message, and Living Bible respectively. Undue repetition? By no means!
I don’t know about you but I know that I definitely need these words every single day of my life especially for times when I am faithless, feel like giving up or become too weak to have any faith left. It is uplifting to know that He remains/abideth faithful. He never gives up on me so why should I give up on me? And why should you give up on me? Or why should I give up on you?
You must have also noticed by now that this passage does not apply to everyone. Yes! it only applies to those who have died with Him. So if you don’t mind my asking; have you died with Him?
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to share this with you because in sharing it I have found encouragement and a lifting up for my cast down soul. Now I wanna scream; arrrggghhh!!!
