Step Out of your comfort zone

Since human nature wants to be in charge and understand all that is going on most of the time, we each have a tendency to live life in our comfort zone – that safety zone where we know and understand to a greater extent what the outcome of the choices and decisions we make are going to be. In the comfort zone, there is no risk taking and we do mostly the things that we are familiar with and have mastered to some extent over the years. We live comfortably with the strategies we have figured out for handling our fears which is really is embracing them and ignoring them as much as we can.

While it feels really good and comfortable to be here and to be in charge of the things that we do, the comfort zone is not meant for those who want to grow. The longer you live life in the comfort zone, the more stagnant your life will be. There are no opportunities for growth in our comfort zone and therefore we never get to face or deal with our fears in that comfort zone. Although we derive a lot of comfort from the fact that we do not need to stretch or strain to achieve any goals, we are basically living a mediocre life, one that God never intended for us to live.

Today I challenge you to step out of the comfort zone into the courage zone where you take the risks that must be taken to grow and become a better person with God’s help. Our dreams are alive in the courage zone and actually push us to take some action to ensure that they have a chance to be realized. The fears that succeed to stop us in the comfort zone are faced and dealt with in the courage zone as we rely on God for the strength we need to face them. This is where all the growth we experience happens but it demands a lot of courage.

When we come to think of it, courage derives its definition from fear and therefore if you desire to live a life free of fear, you will never need courage. Do you have anything that is holding you back today from being all that you should be? Have you come to terms with it and yielded to the falsehood that you will never live above that thing? Have you ignored the desire for more in you so long that you lost it altogether? The issue is not that you don’t want to be better, it is that you are afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone. I am sure you have heard it said said that at death people regret more the inaction than their actions that may had led to undesired results. You don’t want to join the large numbers of people who will regret not doing something about those God-given dreams and potential.

If you remember that for every God-given dream there is equal potential for realization, then you will not let the comfort of your comfort zone hold you back. I encourage you to go for it today. Step out of that comfort zone and watch God surprise you. All He requires is that we trust and obey. You don’t need to figure it all out before you step out. The information you have today is all you need to take that first step so do not hold back any longer. Go for it.

Until you learn to live life in the courage zone, you will remain a coward.
