STILL ABIDING

Oh what bliss to still be abiding
Against all hope, to still be hoping
Against all comfort, to still be believing
Against all common sense, to be still trusting

Hard times threatened to kill my joy
Dark times threatened to snuff out the light
Good times threatened to turn my heart away
Uncertain times threatened to destroy my hope

Fears had me considering something else
Doubts had me wondering if it was needful
Anxieties had me wanting other alternatives
Difficulties had me requesting immediate relief

Friends stuck with me in the good times as well as the bad
Family members remained supportive when the going got tough
Significant others shared their very wise opinions with great generosity
Mentors made their discerning voices heard in the crucial junctions I faced

Oh what bliss to still be abiding
Against all hope, to still be hoping
Against all comfort, to still be believing
Against all common sense, to be still trusting

“I am the vine, you are the branches.
He who abides in Me, and I in Him bears much fruit
For without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;
And they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:5-7
